BASIC COOKING COURSE
The Basic Cooking Course is for domestic helpers who have no experience in cooking. After each lesson, students will get to bring home the cooked food for their employers to sample. Domestic helpers will also be taken to the wet market (e.g. K.K. market, China Town market) to learn how to shop for fresh produce. The course covers both the basics of cooking and cleaning/maintenance of the kitchen.
The objectives of the course are to:

Understand the use of simple sauces and seasoning in Chinese cooking.

Learn the names of local vegetables and fruit.

Learn the different parts of meat and the correct ways to cut meat.

Learn how to buy fish at the market, as well as how to clean and store it to maintain freshness.

Learn how to boil soup with use of different ingredients.

Learn how to make Chinese Tea, English Tea and Coffee.

Learn how to organise a daily menu and prepare meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Learn how to set tables for both Chinese and Western meals, including the placing of wine glasses and cutlery.

Learn how to serve dishes properly, using the correct kitchen utensils.

Learn how to clean and maintain pots and pans.
